Sataplia karstic caves largely occur in Western Georgia - mainly in the regions of Imereti and Racha. They are very deep and highly interesting to explore. Some of them have underground rivers, allowing you to boat in a cave.
Sataplia is a karst cave located about 6 km north-west of Kutaisi, in a nature reserve of the same name. The grotto features spectacular stalactites and stalagmites and is 890 meters long, 10 m high and 12 m wide. It is open to the public. Nearby there was a speleological museum established. The grotto was discovered in 1925.
