The cross-domed, tri-conch Cathedral located on the top of Ukimerioni Hill, was built in the 11th century,during the reign of King Bagrat III, due to which it was called Bagrat's Cathedral. The cathedral is distinguished for its elegant proportions, grand size,facade composition, ornaments and relief carvings. Bagrat's cathedral marked the establishment of a style of the advanced middle Ages in the Georgian architecture.
Sataplia is a karst cave located about 6 km north-west of Kutaisi, in a nature reserve of the same name. The grotto features spectacular stalactites and stalagmites and is 890 meters long, 10 m high and 12 m wide. It is open to the public.
